Jake, an adult house-sitting for his friend Tyler, assumes he will have the place to himself. Instead, he runs into Tyler's mother, Margot Vey, fresh from the shower, who had no idea anyone was coming and wants to know what he is doing in her house. She lets him stay on one condition: her bedroom is off-limits. The premise promises that what he finds upstairs, and the terms she sets for his stay, are where the real story lives.
The opening episode is very brief, essentially an introduction. Margot is crisp and wary, sighing that her son never warns her about guests, and she delivers the rule with a clipped finality that hints at more behind that door. Jake's inner voice admitting he should not be thinking about his friend's mother this way is the only real flirtation. There is no chemistry to judge yet, and the dialogue is purely functional, so the episode works more as a trailer than a first chapter.
