Your girlfriend has pulled strings to get you hired, and the person you answer to turns out to be her stepmother, Margot Vey, who runs the entire floor. Margot makes it clear on day one that she is doing her adult stepdaughter a favor and expects you not to embarrass anyone. Then you correct her in front of the whole team, and her interest in you shifts in a very different direction.
Across two free episodes, the series builds its dynamic with real confidence. The boardroom scene is the standout: you flag an error on slide four, she clears the room and praises the only man willing to tell her the truth. Episode two moves to after hours and wrings maximum tension from the girlfriend's cheerful phone call, with Margot calmly assuring her they are just finishing up. Her parting order that you answer "yes, boss" says everything about who holds the power. The dialogue is clipped and effective, and Margot is written as a genuinely formidable presence.
