Our verdict
A bratty, chaotic tease with more comedy than chemistry; worth unlocking if you enjoy a troublemaker lead and near-miss getting-caught scenes.
Best for: Fans of bratty stepsister mischief and near-miss getting caught
What is Mona's Obsession about?
Mona can’t stand her smug, mess-making stepbrother, yet she’s always nosing around when he's by, and won't ever waste an opportunity to tease him - perhaps all the tension needs some sort of release...
Mona's Obsession review
Mona Newman is the stepsister from hell, or heaven, depending on your tolerance. Both she and her stepbrother are adults sharing a family home, and she claims to despise him, yet she barges into his room without knocking, pokes into his business, and needles him about his girlfriend, Kaylee. The hook is the gap between what Mona says and what she does: every insult is really an excuse to stay close, and the series promises that all this friction is building toward a release.
The two free episodes play like a sitcom with a dirty mind. Mona's breezy threat to tell Kaylee the two of them are having an affair, delivered with total calm, is the series at its most fun, and the stepbrother's genuine panic when she takes a tumble reveals a flicker of care she immediately teases him for. Episode 2 escalates the farce: she commandeers his shower, then his T-shirt, right as Kaylee walks in, and the scramble to cover is well timed. The weak spot is the dialogue. Much of it is repetitive shouting, and the stepbrother rarely gets a line that isn't a protest.
Three premium episodes are left at 36 tokens. Episode 2 cuts off mid-conversation rather than on a strong cliffhanger, so the pull comes from the dynamic more than the plot. If Mona's brand of shameless mischief makes you grin, keep going. If you want sharper writing or a slower build, this one may wear thin.
Scores
What works
- Mona is a vivid, shameless troublemaker who drives every scene
- The getting-caught farce with Kaylee in episode 2 is well timed
- Plenty of comedic energy packed into very short episodes
What doesn’t
- Dialogue leans on repetitive yelling and protests
- The stepbrother is a one-note straight man
- Episode 2 ends mid-scene rather than on a real hook

- Episode 2Free with account
Still fuming after landing in a dirty pool, the stepbrother finds Mona using his shower because hers has no hot water. She then helps herself to his T-shirt just as Kaylee arrives. Mona invents an excuse for being in his room while Kaylee quizzes them about evening plans, and the cover story starts to wobble.
