Harriet Seagrave arrives for her first day at a sleek London office convinced she doesn't belong among the glossy staff, and certain the handsome boss would never look twice at her. He does, immediately. So does his blonde personal assistant, who has spent a long time angling for his attention and isn't about to lose it to a temp. The premise is a workplace love triangle with a sabotage subplot, built around a lead whose self-deprecation feels refreshingly real.
This is the rare series where the dialogue is actually funny. Harriet's nervous babble, admiring the boss and then hastily correcting it to admiring 'the company's work,' is perfectly pitched, and his reply that he preferred her first answer gives their chemistry a warm, playful spark. Episode 2 cuts between the assistant's increasingly unhinged jealousy and a merch-cupboard scene in which Harriet frets that white is unflattering on camera, swears at her boss by accident, and spirals about it. His dry 'Both, actually' is a lovely button. Some of the office gossip is cruder than it needs to be, but the characters read as specific people, not types.
