Stepmom Summer Fling review
Slade expects a lazy summer at his girlfriend Gretchen's family beach house. What he gets is her stepmom, Holly Donovan, who is glamorous, unbothered and, it turns out, someone he has met before. The twist is that Holly and her best friend Brittany share a past as strip-club dancers that Holly's husband knows nothing about, and Slade remembers it vividly. That shared secret gives Holly leverage and gives Slade a reason to play along, which is a sturdier engine than the usual instant attraction.
Subtle it isn't. The free episodes move fast, and Holly goes from introduction to open invitation within the first one, which tells you exactly what kind of series this is. The best material is in episode 2: the reveal of where Slade knows her from is played for awkward comedy, and Gretchen, terrified of heights, cheerfully sends her boyfriend up the Ferris wheel with her stepmom, a deliciously ironic bit of staging. The dialogue is broad and often crude, and Gretchen's dad, Hunter, barely registers, but the boardwalk setting and Holly's confident swagger keep things lively.

The Ferris wheel ending is a direct tease rather than a cliffhanger, but Holly's keep-my-secret bargain sets up a promised payoff.
