Our verdict
The free taste is charming but very short, all setup and none of the bet yet. Unlock it if Ren and Yama's awkward crush won you over and you want to see Mira stir things up.
Best for: Rom-com fans who like a shy crush thrown into a love-triangle mess
What is One Bed With My Roommate about?
Broke Ren rents his spare room to his crush Yama—then her wild best friend Mira moves in and turns his bed into a bet. As the women play dirtier, Mira's dangerous ex resurfaces to collect what he's owed.
One Bed With My Roommate review
Ren is broke, so he rents out his spare room, and his new tenant is Yama Gito, the woman he's quietly had a crush on for a while. That arrangement is fragile enough already. Then Yama's wild best friend Mira arrives, the apartment runs short on beds, and according to the official setup, who sleeps where gets settled by a bet. The synopsis also mentions a dangerous ex of Mira's, so this is a romantic comedy with a darker thread waiting further down the line.
The first free episode is gentle, almost sitcom-like. It's a breakfast scene built around Ren getting caught staring and blaming the toast, a nicely awkward beat, while Yama answers with a knowing, unconvinced hum. Then comes a sweet near-confession: she starts to tell him something and backs off, and both of them are clearly circling the same unspoken thing. Just as it gets interesting, Mira barges in with a cheerful hello to her new roomie and the episode cuts out. The dialogue is light and natural, though there isn't much of it, and nothing here is steamy yet.
Only episode 1 is free. The rest of the five-episode run costs 36 tokens, which is a modest price, but you're mostly paying on trust, since the bet, the rivalry between the two women and the dangerous ex all sit behind the paywall. If the shy-crush chemistry charmed you, it's an easy unlock. If you came for heat right away, this opener won't convince you.
Scores
What works
- Ren and Yama's awkward breakfast chemistry is genuinely endearing
- Natural, low-key dialogue with a well-timed near-confession
- Mira's entrance is a clean, fun cliffhanger that shakes up the dynamic
What doesn’t
- Not much happens in the first free episode
- Barely flirtatious so far; the promised bet and the heat are all premium
