Our verdict
A genuinely funny, well-timed comedy opener built on a double act that works; worth unlocking if you like your taboo served with a wink.
Best for: Viewers who like their taboo played as broad, winking comedy
What is The Nuns Took Me In about?
Seeking shelter from a storm, you stumble into a remote chapel, where two dangerously deprived nuns are eager to show their first man in years some thoroughly unholy hospitality.
The Nuns Took Me In review
Lost in the woods and half-drowned by a storm, you bang on the door of a remote chapel and are taken in by two nuns who haven't hosted a man in years. One is all eagerness; the other keeps trying to translate her sister's enthusiasm into something resembling Christian hospitality. The pair make a classic double act: the eager one, and the one forever scolding her.
Episode 1 is funny, built on rhythm more than heat. The welcome is a string of slips: a promise that they'll take you in all right, a hasty correction, an insistence on getting you out of those wet clothes, another exasperated rebuke. One sister lurks while you change, then claims she was only checking you'd found the gown. The best gag is grace before dinner. After pinning down precisely how long it's been since a man stayed over, three years and eight months, they pray for endangered whales or dolphins, whichever it is, world peace, and forgiveness for what they have planned tonight. Your character is a straight man with not much to do, but the sisters' timing makes up for it.
Episode 1 streams instantly and episode 2 after a free sign-up; three premium episodes follow, 36 tokens to unlock them all. That closing prayer is a delightful cliffhanger because it's a confession in advance. If you enjoy taboo played as broad comedy with a pair of scene-stealers, stay the night. If religious-setting humor isn't your thing, or you want heat from the first minute, the opener stays suggestive and silly.

Soaked and lost in a storm, the narrator stumbles into a chapel where two nuns take him in, one far more eagerly than the other. They hurry him out of his wet clothes, one lingers suspiciously while he changes, and over dinner they recall exactly how long it's been since a man stayed. Grace ends with a request for forgiveness for tonight's plans.
