Our verdict
A quietly odd slow burn with a novel setup. The free episodes are sparse, so unlock it for the voyeur twist the premise promises rather than anything shown so far.
Best for: Fans of slow, voyeuristic tension between awkward strangers
What is Room 742 about?
My keycard opened room 742. A stranger was already inside — and I stayed. Then his wife knocked. She wasn't surprised to see me. She picked me herself. And she doesn't want me gone. She wants to watch.
Room 742 review
A hotel mix-up drives this community-made series. A woman's keycard opens room 742, a man is already inside, and the front desk can't offer her anything else. She's exhausted after a long day of travel and decides to stay put, while the stranger barely says a word. The synopsis promises the real twist later: his wife arrives, isn't remotely surprised, and turns out to have plans of her own that center on watching.
The two free episodes are slow and sparse, which is both their charm and their problem. Nearly all the dialogue belongs to the woman: a call to reception, a weary complaint about twelve hours in the same clothes, a pointed warning not to be weird before she changes, and growing exasperation at her roommate's silence. Episode 2 picks up after that awkward moment with an interruption, the realization that they're stuck together, and a cheeky nickname she gives him when he still won't share his name. It's a curious, almost theatrical slow burn, but with one character doing all the talking, chemistry is hard to judge and hardly anything actually happens.
Three premium episodes remain, 36 tokens in total, and the wife's arrival is the obvious selling point. The free part gets you to the start of the story rather than its hook, so you're paying on the strength of the premise. Viewers who enjoy voyeuristic slow burns and awkward strangers-in-a-room tension may find it intriguing; anyone who wants momentum should skip it.
Scores
What works
- Fresh strangers-in-a-hotel-room premise
- Her dry, tired monologue feels natural and grounded
- The voyeur twist teased in the setup is genuinely unusual
What doesn’t
- Not much happens across both free episodes
- The silent male lead makes chemistry hard to read

Room 742 episode guide
5 episodes, about 0:58 each. Episodes 1 and 2 play instantly without an account.
- Episode 1Free1:00
A woman lets herself into room 742 and finds a man already there. She calls reception, learns nothing else is available, and decides she's too tired to argue after traveling since early morning. Warning him not to be weird, she goes to change, then grows impatient with his silence and asks whether he plans to just stand there.
- Episode 2Free0:55
Still rattled, she scolds the stranger for not speaking up earlier. An interruption leaves her surprised and confirms they're stuck sharing the room. She asks what he wants and what his name is; when he stays silent, she picks a teasing nickname for him and keeps prodding for any reaction at all.
