With the wedding two days out, the best man is back for his oldest friend Jake, and so is a history he'd rather not think about: Bree Whitlock, the bride. She has apparently been noticing him for years, and she's done pretending otherwise. What gives the setup its bite is that Bree isn't wavering or nervous. She's the one pushing, and the groom is never more than a staircase away.
Two free episodes give the story room to build, and the central exchange is a good one. Bree reminds him that in six years he never once made a move; he protests that she was Jake's, and she answers with a two-word question that reframes the whole friendship. The second episode leans into near-misses, peaking when Jake calls out to ask whether anyone has seen his keys at the worst possible moment, a well-timed jolt. Continuity is a bit loose, since Jake is somehow both off with the caterer and asleep, and the best man's dialogue runs mostly to protests, but Bree's confidence carries every scene.
