Dropping by his best friend Gerald's house, our narrator finds Gerald out and his stepmom, Veronica, at home. Veronica Parker plays her with an easy, self-assured warmth, and he isn't shy about telling the viewer how attractive he finds her. Then her friend Holly turns up for Pilates and the afternoon becomes a contest: two women, each sure of her own appeal, sizing up the same nervous guest.
Episode 1 is short on plot and long on flirtation. It opens with the narrator's cheeky aside to camera, startles Veronica with his arrival, then hands the scene to Holly, who wastes no time admiring his abs while her friend changes.
