A man moves to a new city for a clean slate and rents from Jamie, a cheerful landlord with a wife who seems wasted on him. That wife is Courtney Marlowe, and the series lets her narrate in places, which is the clever part: she frames the story with knowing hindsight, hinting that the new tenant was never as in control as he believed. The premise promises a whole neighborhood with an agenda, turning a standard affair setup into something closer to a suburban thriller.
Both free episodes lean into that double layer. On the surface it's all welcome-wagon warmth: an accidental splash of soap during introductions, an offer of iced tea, a request for computer help while Jamie is at work. Underneath, Courtney's voiceover keeps telling you something is off, and the first episode ends on a startled reaction that works as a jolt. Episode 2 adds Nicole from a few houses down, who is so bluntly forward it plays as comedy. The dialogue is often crude rather than clever, and the tenant is mostly a nervous stammer, but Courtney's patient drift from small talk to a story about a tattoo she barely remembers getting is nicely paced seduction.

If you want a hidden agenda behind the flirting, keep going. If you prefer a male lead with sharper banter, the tenant may test your patience.
